Interviews

Here are some recent conversations I've had with friends. Stay tuned for more!

The author of “Soul Care” explains what it looks like to prioritize care for your soul and why it should be our top concern.

Dawn from Dawn and Steve in the morning talk with Amber Albee Swenson, author of Soul Care. There’s a lot of talk these days about self-care. While it’s important to care for our mental and physical health, too often we overlook the care of our souls.

Self-care has become an increasingly popular topic! One of my free ebooks is all about ten self-care strategies to help reduce stress and it just so happens to be the most downloaded.

While most of us can agree that we need to take better care of our mental and physical health, too often we overlook the care of our souls. The truth is that without soul care there is no self-care.

That’s why I invited Amber Albee Swenson to join me for a conversation all about taking better care of our souls. Amber is a wife, mother, speaker, and author of seven books including Soul Care: Nurturing Your Spiritual Wellness.

In this episode my guest, Amber Albee Swenson, shares practical tips that are really simple to incorporate into your relationship with your spouse, as well as warning signs that show you might be in dangerous territory with someone outside of your marriage. Amber has lots of great wisdom including this: “There’s a woman out there who would be thrilled with your husband. So, stop being critical [of him]. Being critical is not a spiritual gift.” That’s a good word we need to frequently be reminded of.

“I can absolutely stomp my husband down, or I can celebrate who he is and the wonderful things he does.”

Do you find yourself thinking that maybe you’re just in the wrong place at the wrong time doing the wrong things? What if that’s not true. Amber Albee Swenson joins Julie Lyles Carr for a conversation you don’t want to miss about our current celebrity Christian culture, how that can impact your contentment with your life, and why we need to elevate our understanding of ‘ordinary.’

Do you know Beth Townsend, from Living Life on Purpose? If not, you may just want to meet her. We had a Facebook Live on February 8, 2022. We discussed  discipline, raising warriors, Biblical womanhood and finding purpose among other things.

Do you ever feel like you’re too ordinary for God to use? We talk about hurdles that stand between us and the purposes to which God calls us. Amber explains God can  use past mistakes, failures, and even sin to bear fruit for his kingdom. Finally, we discuss how spiritual warfare prevents women from living out God’s purposes. If you want to discover and walk in God’s plans for your life, we’ll give you first steps.

Amber answers questions like, “what happens if God’s plan is not your plan?” and “what if I don’t feel qualified to do anything in God’s kingdom?”
We discuss what happens when we feel like we don’t measure up, especially in a social media world.
She also talks about the importance of prayer and that we should never underestimate the power of prayer.

God has a plan for each of us, whether we recognize it or not. As we read the pages of Scripture we see God uses ordinary everyday people. Amber dives into the lives of 5 individuals who may have seen themselves as ordinary, YET God CHOSE them for more. And He chooses you for more as well.

What do we do when God’s plan isn’t my plan? Amber Albee-Swenson, my new fearless friend, shares how we can come to God just as we are and find ourselves in the pages of Scripture.

Amber shared with me where God has moved in her life and how He’s taught her the power of forgiveness, perseverance and seeing God’s faithfulness every step of the way.

Are you struggling to find your purpose and place in the world? Do you question who you are and what your value is? All of us have felt or currently feel this way.

Amber wants to help you discover your unique, God-designed identity and ways to step into your purpose and calling.

(I fell off my chair just before we went on the air and ended up on the floor.)

I’ve listened to Steve Douglass on the radio countless times so it was a HUGE honor for me to be on “Making Your Life Count.”
