I’m going to tell you to do something hard.
Ready?
Love people. Pour into them. Talk to them, share your heart.
Why is that hard?
Because people will leave. They will keep you around as long as you do what they say, or live up to their expectations or keep quiet. But if you no longer prove useful or fail in any of the above, they’ll move on.
Love anyway.
That’s what Jesus did. He taught the truths of heaven. He tried to make people understand. He invited people to follow him. Some did. Many didn’t. Some did for a time and then turned away.
And when the people you poured into walk away, you pray and watch for the next person. The world is full of hurting people who need help and hope.
No matter how many times you try and people walk away, keep loving.
“The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. Above all, love each other deeply because love covers over a multitude of sins” 1 Peter 4:7.
